Mission

AfriOrbit is a space vertical company that provides user-specific services by leveraging the integration of technologies, both upstream and downstream. The company’s rationale is that end-user needs are constantly evolving, which calls for agile services. This trend is pushing the envelopes of technology silos, leading to technology convergence and seamless solutions, which is the driving force behind AfriOrbit’s mantra of simplifying services by innovatively integrating technologies in and outside space, such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, etc.

Our core offerings

  1. AfriOrbit as an integrator of space services cutting across the domains of Earth Observation, Satellite Communication, Navigation and Positioning and Astronomy. One of the core offerings is Machine-to-Machine or Direct-to-Devices satellite connection. AfriOrbit’s flagship program is on Satellite-to-IoT connectivity and providing a direct to cloud uplink. Working with Edenway Foundation, AfriOrbit provides satellite links for in-situ IoT sensors used in management of marine and coastal services.

  2. AfriOrbit in the three segments of space:

    • Offering Ground-Stations-As-A-Service through ground infrastructure e.g. IoT networks, Gateways, etc.

    • Offering Space-As-A-Service by deploying satellites for integrated services. AfriOrbit has prototyped 1-U cubesats for this purpose

    • AfriOrbit as a Data and Services provider by deploying tasking platforms and AI/ML-enabled hardware and software for data processing. AfriOrbit develops cutting-edge technologies to enhance its core services. By leveraging integrated technologies like artificial intelligence, Internet of Things (IoT), and quantum computing, AfriOrbit drives innovation and creates platforms of growth for our clients

Education & Workforce Development (EduSpace)

Edusat: AfriOrbit designs and manufactures Edusats, that are used for hands-on training in academia and industry. These are 1-U and above cubesats for technology demonstration and educational purposes.

Rocketry: AfriOrbit designs and manufactures cutting-edge Avionics systems and rockets that support Education and Workforce Development. The program is an opportunity for learners to work ground-up with software, microcontrollers and hardware to decipher  rockets design and how data from their onboard sensors is analyzed for engineering decisions

Robotics: AfriOrbit designs and Manufactures robots from ground-up for educational and real-life applications.

Equatorial Spaceport Safari

AfriOrbit is establishing an Equatorial Spaceport along the coastline of Kenya in response to the global demands for the growing launch traffic. We have established reputable partners e.g. KSA, ASTROGATE, Orbital Ventures, HGI, etc.

Infrastructure-As-A-Service

Satellite IoT

AfriOrbit is an integrator of infrastructure such as Gateways, Ground Stations, Data Centers, etc. for seamless services. Offering ground stations as a service, allowing satellite operators to downlink and process data using a shared, scalable infrastructure. Deployment of AI-Enabled payloads for edge computing in orbit, where satellites process data onboard to save bandwidth and time.

There are about 75 billion IoT devices globally. All need to be connected to the Internet. AfriOrbit has a Flagship Program for satellite-to-IoT-Devices to connect devices from any sector to the cloud. This service provides scalable solution that eliminate the dead zones of internet services and switches on the 5G networks.

AfriOrbit Rocketry

AfriOrbit builds and launches rockets. The avionics board is designed and assembled inhouse. This is an end-to-end lifecycle including designing, assembling and testing the rocket’s avionics systems for data collection such as rocket trajectory, temperature, altitude, etc.

Learners design their rockets using open-source modeling software and then reproduce them using model rocket materials. Learners design and program the avionics board based on Raspberry Pi, Arduino or STM32 microcontrollers.

AfriOrbit Edusat Kit

AfriOrbit designs and manufactures Edusats, that are used for hands-on training in academia and industry. These are 1-U and above cubesats for technology demonstration and educational purposes. Edusat is a hands-on engineering kit with lean satellites in schools and industry. It is a fully-functional model cube satellite (CubeSat) that’s been simplified such that it can be pulled apart and assembled quickly to educate learners on the basic structure and operations of a nanosatellite. Its full curriculum hosted on a dynamic LMS.

The kit takes a modular approach in its design making it easy to assemble and run the system while teaching key concepts in engineering. Its subsystems are designed to the standards of modern satellites to familiarize learners to the actual design process.

The Edusat kit is essentially a standalone server that can be accessed offline and off-grid using a rudimentary device such as mobile phone or laptop in the most remote of areas. All materials and processing will be stored and accessible locally.

Training and Workforce Development

AfriOrbit provides expert curated curriculum to enhance training in schools, universities, agencies and governments in Space engineering.

Edusat Capacity building programmes are aimed at building teams that enable the client to gain space capabilities in all major areas of the spacecraft. The curriculum is well-curated to provide fundamental training to learners at every learning level from beginners to advanced and specialized levels.  The kit allows for the active programming of the kit with a wide variety of programming languages to interact with the system.

The Rocketry training kit and curriculum package consists of a full lifecycle rocketry programme. Trainees design their avionics board and integrate it in the body assemblage before launching and analyzing the data
